'War, Neoliberal State Policy and Gender in Ukraine', Public Lecture

About the lecture:

'With the outbreak of the full-scale invasion by Russia, Ukrainian society is going through yet another crisis. While influencing the whole fabric of the Ukrainian society, war and current policies have their distinct direct and indirect gender-differentiated effects and potential long-term influences on the structures of gender inequality. They radically alter the conditions for social reproduction, reconfigure the distribution of reproductive labor, devaluate it on the labor market and diminish support for families. Along with the immediate war threats, these put the lives of many women, especially from under-privileged groups, in socio-economic jeopardy and ossifies the existing structural inequality. Also, the war, neoliberal policies and resulting dynamics force both adaptive and political mobilization around social reproduction.'
