Conference on Non-Capitalist Mixed Economies (Wars, Non-Capitalist Mixed Economies and Socialism)

Our colleagues Petra Ezzeddine and Noémi Katona took part in the conference on Non-Capitalist Mixed Economies (Wars, Non-Capitalist Mixed Economies and Socialism) ’ at the Karl Polanyi Research Centre, ROS in Budapest and each held a lecture.

The hybrid conference took place 2-3 September, 2023, and considered how wars historically and today have contributed to the success or failures of socialist projects all around the world. It also discussed what processes can be seen in this respect in our current world, what geopolitical and geoeconomics reordering is going on, and whether there can be seen any possible outcome toward socialism and/or non-capitalist mixed economies. The conference was supported by Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

Petra Ezzeddine held a lecture entitled 'Are the Solidarity Households Really Solidarity Households?: The (De)Economization of the Humanitarian Arena for Ukrainian Refugees in the Czech Republic'.

Noémi Katona spoke about 'Solidarity economy answers to the crisis of care: potentials and challenges of reorganising care'.
